Meet The Team

Mary Beth Poe

President and Owner

What I love about catering is hearing the customer say “I am absolutely thrilled with my event and everything was perfect”. At the end of a long day that is definitely what I want to hear.

My biggest accomplishment is starting MBP and surviving for over 30 years. It never ceases to amaze me. One of my favorite things to do is create new ideas and stay abreast of the current trends. Just because we have been in business for over 30 years certainly does not mean that we are set in our ways.

I am amazed with my staff.  The busier we are the better they are.  On our busiest days they all bond together as a team to get the job done. You can actually see the excitement.  They arrive motivated and leave satisfied and possibly a little tired, but still very pleasant and excited that they did a great job. Yes, on busy days there are always obstacles to overcome.  We always have a plan, but as the day progresses we might have to adjust the plan and that is what makes us great.  By the end of the day I always say WOW, what a great job.

My hospitality career began at the IUPUI Union Building. We did everything including hotel, catering, concessions and cafeterias. It was quite the learning experience and I would never change a thing. Once you are hooked on the hospitality business you are always hooked. I love the excitement and the challenges. We never have two days in a row that are the same. Every day requires a new plan. That is what makes it fun and rewarding.

In my limited spare time I love to socialize with my husband and my friends. I definitely value the opportunity of having fun. And I don’t want to forget my dog Jake, who is always thrilled to see me at the end of a long day.


Anne Perry

Director of Catering

I am the Director of Catering here at MBP and I oversee a lot of the day -to-day operations, working closely with my staff. I graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1987 with a head start utilizing my triple major in business. I have been at MBP for over 30 years helping Mary Beth grow this ever-changing business and boy, do we have some stories we could tell! I started my career as a server and one day in the beginning of it all, I answered the phone when it rang. This became my first introduction into sales and I fell in love with this business.

Over the years, I have developed some great relationships with my clients. My colleagues are amazed that anywhere we go, I always run into someone I know. My clients know that all they need to do is give me the basic information and I will make it happen. This is built on years of trust and satisfied customers; a fact of which I am very proud to have achieved.

I live in Plainfield with my husband Ron and my three boys, Mathew who is in college, Lucas who is a graduate of Plainfield High School and our special “Angel” Evin.

Ron and I are strong supporters of The Angelman Foundation because of our son Evin. In my spare time, you can find me at fundraisers and events for this great foundation, spending time with my 4 favorite guys or reading a good book.


Ashley Vandervort

Director of Operations and Marketing

I started at MBP about two weeks before Indy hosted the Super Bowl back in 2012 as a server/bartender and I have been with MBP ever since. I first came to MBP because I was studying hospitality and event management in college, so I thought a catering and event planning company would be perfect for me!

During my time with MBP, I was promoted to an event supervisor before being asked to be Mary’s assistant. I am now Director of Operations and Marketing; which means that I schedule our staff and coordinate food transportation. I still assist our sales’ team part-time and also assist customers with coordinating their events. I am what you might call a jack of all trades! I love organizing events and helping others to make their jobs easier. My real passion is being at events and seeing them come to life after months and even years of planning! I am what you might call a “neat freak” when it comes to my work, and I pride myself on making our clients’ planning process easier.

In my free time, I love to work from home (okay, I’m kind of a workaholic!), read and enjoy dinner and drinks with my friends. My family is very important to me, so I often travel to my hometown in Monticello to visit them. I love to travel anywhere and I find it easy to meet new people. I look forward to the day I can plan my own wedding because it will be planned to a tee!


Mariah Mooneyhan

Event Coordinator

My favorite part about event planning is being able to bring a client’s vision of a perfect event to life.  I found my passion for events and catering while working for a hotel here in Indianapolis.  I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from IUPUI for Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management with a certificate in Hospitality and Event Planning.  During my time at IUPUI, I interned for Mill Top Banquet and Conference Center and fell in love with wedding planning!  I first started my career at MBP in 2016 as Mary Beth’s assistant for 8 months.  I grew so much from working directly with Mary, and was eventually offered an event coordinating position.  I love what I do because bringing people together for fun and celebrating is the absolute best!

In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good book and having dinner and drinks with my friends.  I am obsessed with animals and enjoy spending time with my tailless cat named Miley!  I am very close with my family, so I always make time to visit them in my hometown of Muncie any chance I can get.


Kimberly Foster

Event Coordinator

I am an Event Coordinator here at MBP Distinctive Catering.  I started out as Mary Beth’s assistant last June and fell in love with the business, employees, and clients!  I have had a variety of jobs throughout my life, but have mostly worked in different aspects of hospitality.  This area is my favorite because I get to help ease the stress of the client while seeing the final product of all of our hard work come to life!  I love talking to the clients after the event and hearing how much we helped make their day memorable!

In my free time; I love hanging out with friends and family, anything that involves being outdoors, binge watching TV shows, hanging out with my cats Bo Bo & Avery, and painting.  A lot of the time you can find me with my coworkers outside of work because MBP is one big family and I wouldn’t want it any other way!


Loryn Horn

Assistant to Mary Beth Poe

I am one of the newest members here at MBP Distinctive Catering.  I’m Mary Beth’s assistant.  I help with her day-to-day office and on-site event needs.  The knowledge that I have gained in the short amount of time that I have been here has added tremendously to my 10+ years of personal experience in the service industry.  In cosmetology school I discovered my passion for attention to detail, start-to-finish customer service, and creation of a finished product that can enjoyed.  Seeing a vision that the client and I have been planning come to reality is one of the best parts of this industry.  Every day here, at MBP, is so unique.  Getting to take those days and make them memorable for the client is so rewarding. 

When I am not at work; I am hanging out with my friends, obsessing over my dog, searching for new music, or tending to my growing plant collection.  Family time is a must; being one of four girls in a close-knit family.  I am always looking for some type of creative outlet or something new to inspire me.
